10 Bible Verses to Pray Over Your Marriage
One a month, with two to spare. Read the verse, then pray the line under it.
- 1.
“with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, and with diligence to preserve the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:2-3, BSB) — Lord, make us patient with each other before we're right.
- 2.
“And over all these virtues put on love, which is the bond of perfect unity.” (Colossians 3:14, BSB) — Father, let love be the thing that holds when nothing else does.
- 3.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no account of wrongs. Love takes no pleasure in evil, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7, BSB) — God, make our love durable, not just warm.
- 4.
“And though one may be overpowered, two can resist. Moreover, a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:12, BSB) — Lord, be the third strand in this.
- 5.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6, BSB) — Father, direct our path where we can't see it.
- 6.
“But if it is unpleasing in your sight to serve the LORD, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!” (Joshua 24:15, BSB) — God, whatever else this house is, let it serve you.
- 7.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7, BSB) — Jesus, guard our hearts where we can't guard them ourselves.
- 8.
“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Outdo yourselves in honoring one another.” (Romans 12:10, BSB) — Father, teach us to prefer one another honestly, not for show.
- 9.
“Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8, BSB) — God, give us a love that covers instead of catalogues.
- 10.
“Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain; unless the LORD protects the city, its watchmen stand guard in vain.” (Psalm 127:1, BSB) — Lord, we're not building this alone. Build it with us.
