5 Reasons Christian Couples Stop Praying Together

Almost no couple decides to stop. It thins out until it's gone. Restarting is easier than starting was.

  1. 1.

Exhaustion. You meant to, and then it was 11pm. Restart: one sentence each. That still counts.

  2. 2.

Embarrassment. Praying out loud in front of the person who knows you best is harder, not easier. Restart: both read a written prayer. Your eyes are on the page, not on each other.

  3. 3.

Uneven pace. One of you is more fluent, so the other stops trying. Restart: the less confident spouse goes first, and keeps it short.

  4. 4.

Something unresolved. Restart: name it in one sentence before you pray, never inside the prayer.

  5. 5.

No fixed moment. Anything that depends on remembering gets forgotten. Restart: attach it to something already daily — the light going off, the last dish.
